Having an order to recreate a living place that maximizes the available space to be versatile was an easy job for this contractor. Located in Madrid, Idearch continued its third Multiplying Architecture then called Duplicated Renovation to increase house quality for living.
This house renovation was done in 2016 and finished together with Juan Pablo Ruiz, Architect as a collaborator. This project was impressive in maximizing every inch of space horizontally and vertically creating such an arrangement that efficient for a small house that has full of functions.
Maximum Space Utilization
The existing structure that wanted an upgrade was a duplex on the roof floor. While it was a very tight space, this floor was benefited with the existence of an outdoor terrace sighting the beauty of Madrid. The designer saw the advantage point so they decided to maximize the development of inside and outside.
The first impression was a beautiful large glass window connecting the terrace area with the inside area of the home. The design adopted a modern style with double frames giving a compact yet effective structure that requires minimum maintenance but possesses a great function.
The outside area itself was designed accordingly. The outside window frame design was not merely for decoration as it can function as a seating and also a table giving more space in the outdoor as an alternative gathering space.
To improve a crisp outdoor experience, the right corner space of this open space is dedicated to a small garden spot. There are no oversized trees and plants as their main purpose is to enliven the greyish tone of the space.
Complex Interior Design
Going inside, we will see a great shifting from an open space with unlimited sight into a complex and well-designed interior. There is no joke that the interior looks very complex as it applies a geometry ceiling design that creates an artsy studio look from multiple points of view.
Inside the home, we are actually in a narrow space that is open from back to front. The dining space, living room, kitchen and outdoor terrace is straightly aligned creating a long and integrated concept inside-outside. The bedroom is on the upper space and there is a door to a small space on the right side that is used for the wetroom of the house.
The existing space was very simple and limited so the smart trick was needed to make the home more functional and also beautiful.
The selection of a wooden geometric ceiling was considered brilliant in creating a multilevel of sighting to camouflage the second level of attic sleeping space upper the kitchen and bathroom. The brilliant floating staircase at the end of the kitchen is adjusted to not block the sight to the large window so beautiful scenery will be accessible from everywhere.
Furniture and Interior Coloring Style
The home looks very modern for three factors which are shape, color and furniture style. The shape was explained previously then the next is about color and furniture.
The interior color concept is simple but meaningful. It is not too progressive to let the home keep the livable and warm vibe as the designer had designed it with the enrichment of natural wood touching, To enlive the colors’ arrangement, multiple ceiling, and wall lightings are installed. Bright ambient is always full in this home during the day and night.
To reduce the complexity so it won’t too crowded, the home is contrasting the floor and the ceiling. We will find out a drastic development from a plain epoxy covered floor to grow complexly above.
However, it was really amazing to see the house from corner to corner. A simple narrow space can transform into a very cozy dwelling that grants the whole functions for living. Full respect for the designers as we are sure that the house owner is really happy with the transformation.
