Apartment renovation is an interesting topic as it always inspires something new for us. This one which involves a renovation of an apartment in a heritage building of Old Montreal is a sort that we shouldn’t miss.

The renovation project involved La Firme as a design lead that sought an opportunity to reform an old spec dwelling to become a fascinating modern style living space.

Interior Transformation

The existing apartment was a full floor that once was two apartment areas divided equally. It was then combined to be a single space that would become a studio and a living space.

The project was a full renovation project which includes space remaking. Yet the designer had got a challenge to maintain some elements like the exterior opening to maintain the heritage structure of the apartment.

Once the renovation began, the first was to clear the old interior structure and combine two-space apartments to be a full floor space. The floor is said to be one element that should not be overlooked as it was unsalvageable. It was replaced by polished concrete to deal with the issue.

The area is benefited with a full floor plan that has access to the building windows. It allows the designer to exploit them to give an open loft concept that has sun entering access.

Interior Design and Style

The interior concept was including a modern style that looks simple, functional, and practical. The design is straight forward showing lines and gestures that maximize available space to attain the owner’s need and desire.

The upgrade included several characteristics that showcase a smooth transition from two different periods. The use of wood furnishing and decoration has made the interior look reliable as a living space. Warm and friendly radiant is filling every inch of this apartment enriched by many sunlight from three-side windows.

The use of wooden furnishing in the whole area seems to give a balancing look in the building. While it still maintains the old industrial aspects such as the brick wall and exposed piping, the combining trick could hinder the obsolete display.

Although the interior is using combining style, the character of the home can emit a charming and homey vibe. The double functions of the apartment had been also exposed to show the passion of the owner as it is exhibited in the vast kitchen-entertainment area.

The finished project seems to be satisfying as it had won an award in 2018. The double characters which are modern-old and open-close characters have become that quality that makes this home deserve the best appreciation in the home designing world.
